  Sinus \Si"nus\, n.; pl. L. {Sinus}, E. {Sinuses}. [L., a bent
     surface, a curve, the folds or bosom of a garment, etc., a
     bay. Cf. {Sine}, n.]
     1. An opening; a hollow; a bending.
