  Jararaca \Jar`a*ra"ca\, n. [Pg., from the native name.] (Zool.)
     A poisonous serpent of Brazil ({Bothrops jararaca}), about
     eighteen inches long, and of a dusky, brownish color,
     variegated with red and black spots.
