Stonechat \Stone"chat`\, n. [Stone + chat.] [So called from the
similarity of its alarm note to the clicking together of two
pebbles.] (Zool.)
(a) A small, active, and very common European singing bird
({Pratincola rubicola}); -- called also {chickstone},
{stonechacker}, {stonechatter}, {stoneclink},
{stonesmith}.
