  pabulum \pab"u*lum\, n. [L., akin to pascere to pasture. See
     {Pastor}.]
     1. The means of nutriment to animals or plants; food;
        nourishment. [WordNet sense 1]
  
     Syn: comestible, edible, eatable, victual, victuals.
