     nickname, an ekename being understood as a nekename,
     influenced also by E. nick, v. See {Eke}, and {Name}.]
     A name given in affectionate familiarity, sportive
     familiarity, contempt, or derision; a familiar or an
     opprobrious appellation; as, Nicholas's nickname is Nick.
