  Mathematica
       
           A popular {symbolic mathematics} and
          graphics system, developed in 1988 by Stephen Wolfram and sold
          by {Wolfram Research}.  The language emphasises rules and
          {pattern-matching}.  The name was suggested by {Steve Jobs}.
