  impala \im*pa"la\, n.
     An antelope ({Aepyceros melampus}) of Southeastern Africa,
     the male of which has ringed lyre-shaped horns, which curve
     first backward, then sideways, then upwards. ALso called
     {impalla} and {pallah}.
