A very largo East Indian freshwater fish ({Osphromenus
gorami}), extensively reared in artificial ponds in tropical
countries, and highly valued as a food fish. Many
unsuccessful efforts have been made to introduce it into
Southern Europe. [Written also {goramy}.]
