  Gladen \Gla"den\, n. [AS. gl[ae]dene, cf. L. gladius a sword.
     Cf. {Gladiole}.] (Bot.)
     Sword grass; any plant with sword-shaped leaves, especially
     the European {Iris f[oe]tidissima}. [Written also {gladwyn},
     {gladdon}, and {glader}.]
