     1. (Med.) A valuable astringent obtained from the root of the
        {Geranium maculatum} or crane's-bill.

     2. (Chem.) A liquid terpene, obtained from the crane's-bill
        ({Geranium maculatum}), and having a peculiar mulberry
        odor. [Written also {geraniin}.]
