  fleer \fleer\ (fl[=e]r), [imp. & p. p. {fleered} (fl[=e]rd); p.
     pr. & vb. n. {fleering}.] [OE. flerien; cf. Scot. fleyr,
     Norw. flira to titter, giggle, laugh at nothing, MHG. vlerre,
     vlarre, a wide wound.]
