  Ferret \Fer"ret\, n. [Ital. foretto, dim. of fiore flower; or F.
     fleuret. Cf. {Floret}.]
     A kind of narrow tape, usually made of woolen; sometimes of
     cotton or silk; -- called also {ferreting}.
