  Diacoustics \Di`a*cous"tics\, n. [Cf. F. diacoustique.]
     That branch of natural philosophy which treats of the
     properties of sound as affected by passing through different
     mediums; -- called also {diaphonics}. See the Note under
     {Acoustics}. Diacritic
