     A small herbivorous mammal of the genus {Hyrax}. The species
     found in Palestine and Syria is {Hyrax Syriacus}; that of
     Northern Africa is {Hyrax Brucei}; -- called also {ashkoko},
     {dassy}, and {rock rabbit}. See {Cony}, and {Hyrax}.
