  Kauri \Ka"u*ri\, n. [Native name.] (Bot.)
     A tall coniferous tree of New Zealand {Agathis australis}, or
     {Dammara australis}), having white straight-grained wood
     furnishing valuable timber and also yielding one kind of
     {dammar resin}. [Written also {kaudi}, {kaury}, {cowdie}, and
     {cowrie}.]
