  counterclockwise \coun"ter*clock"wise\ adj. & adv.
     in the opposite direction to that in which the hands of a
     clock rotate, as viewed from in front of the clock face; --
     of rotatory motion or spiral direction. Opposite of
     {clockwise}, or {right-handed}
