  Cantaloupe \Can"ta*loupe\, n. [F. cantaloup, It. cantalupo, so
     called from the caste of Cantalupo, in the Marca d'Ancona, in
     Italy, where they were first grown in Europe, from seed said
     to have been imported from Armenia.]
