  Zoophyta \Zo*oph"y*ta\, n. pl. [NL., from Gr. zw^,on an animal +
     fyto`n a plant.] (Zool.)
     An extensive artificial and heterogeneous group of animals,
     formerly adopted by many Zoologists. It included the
     c[oe]lenterates, echinoderms, sponges, Bryozoa, Protozoa,
     etc.
