  Xylophagous \Xy*loph"a*gous\, a. [Gr. xylofa`gos eating wood;
     xy`lon wood + fagei^n to eat.] (Zool.)
     (a) Eating, boring in, or destroying, wood; -- said
         especially of certain insect larvae, crustaceans, and
         mollusks.
     (b) Of or pertaining to the genus {Xylophaga}.
