     w[imac]?ig a willow, willow twig; akin to G. weide willow,
     OHG. w[imac]da, Icel. v[imac]?ja, a withy, Sw. vide a willow
     twig, Dan. vidie a willow, osier, Gr. ?, and probably to L.
