  Whinchat \Whin"chat`\, n. [So called because it frequents
     whins.] (Zool.)
     A small warbler ({Pratincola rubetra}) common in Europe; --
     called also {whinchacker}, {whincheck}, {whin-clocharet}.

        {Saxicolid[ae]}, as the {stonechat}, and {whinchat}.
