  Wastel \Was"tel\, n. [OF. wastel, gastel, F. g[^a]teau, LL.
     wastellus, fr. MHG. wastel a kind of bread; cf. OHG. & AS.
     wist food.]
     A kind of white and fine bread or cake; -- called also
     {wastel bread}, and {wastel cake}. [Obs.]
