     Any one of numerous species of kangaroos belonging to the
     genus {Halmaturus}, native of Australia and Tasmania,
     especially the smaller species, as the brush kangaroo
     ({Halmaturus Bennettii}) and the pademelon ({Halmaturus


     thetidis}). The wallabies chiefly inhabit the wooded district
