  Tulip-shell \Tu"lip-shell`\, n. (Zool.)
     A large, handsomely colored, marine univalve shell
     ({Fasciolaria tulipa}) native of the Southern United States.
     The name is sometimes applied also to other species of
     {Fasciolaria}.
