  Trierarch \Tri"er*arch\, n. [L. trierarchus, Gr. ?; ? a trireme
     + ? a leader, a chief.] (Gr. Antiq.)
        (a) The commander of a trireme.
        (b) At Athens, one who (singly, or jointly with other
            citizens) had to fit out a trireme for the public
            service.
