  Trave \Trave\, n. [Through French, fr. L. trabs, trabis, a beam;
     cf. OF. tref a beam, also F. travail a frame to confine a
     horse, OE. trave, trevys, travise, It. travaglio, F.
     trav['e]e the space between two beams.]
