  Tetanic \Te*tan"ic\, a. [Cf. L. tetanicus suffering from
     tetanus, Gr. ?, F. t['e]tanique.]
     1. (Physiol.) Of or pertaining to tetanus; having the
        character of tetanus; as, a tetanic state; tetanic
        contraction.
