From Bouvier's Law Dictionary, Revised 6th Ed (1856) [bouvier]:

  TERMINUM. In the civil law, says Spelman, this word signifies a day set to 
  the defendant, and, in that sense, Bracton, Glanville and some others 
  sometimes use it. Reliquiae Spelmanianae, p. 71; Beames' Gl. 27 n.
