     swete, swote, sote, AS. sw[=e]te; akin to OFries. sw[=e]te,
     OS. sw[=o]ti, D. zoet, G. s["u]ss, OHG. suozi, Icel. saetr,
     soetr, Sw. s["o]t, Dan. s["o]d, Goth. suts, L. suavis, for
