  Surbate \Sur*bate"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Surbated}; p. pr. &
     vb. n. {Surbating}.] [F. solbatu, p. p., bruised (said of a
     horse's foot); sole a sole (of a horse's foot) + battu, p. p.
     of battre to beat.]
