  Stephanotis \Steph`a*no"tis\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? fit for a
     crown, fr. ? crown.]
     1. (Bot.) A genus of climbing asclepiadaceous shrubs, of
        Madagascar, Malaya, etc. They have fleshy or coriaceous
        opposite leaves, and large white waxy flowers in cymes.
