  Stephanite \Steph"an*ite\, n. [So named after the Archduke
     Stephan, mining director of Austria.] (Min.)
     A sulphide of antimony and silver of an iron-black color and
     metallic luster; called also {black silver}, and {brittle
     silver ore}.
