     esquachier, to squash, to crush, F. ['e]cacher, perhaps from
     (assumed) LL. excoacticare, fr. L. ex + coactare to
     constrain, from cogere, coactum, to compel. Cf. {Cogent},
     {Squat}, v. i.]
