     spatula, a broad two-edged sword, a spathe, Gr. spa`qh. Cf.
     {Epaulet}, {Spade} at cards, {Spathe}, {Spatula}.]

        usually of an oblong and nearly rectangular blade of iron,
        with a handle like that of a shovel. "With spade and
