  Snacot \Snac"ot\, n. [Said to be corrupted fr. NL. syngnathus,
     fr. Gr. sy`n together + gna`qos jaw, because the jaws can be
     only slightly separated.] (Zool.)
     A pipefish of the genus {Syngnathus}. See {Pipefish}.
