     D. slijm, G. schleim, MHG. sl[imac]men to make smooth, Icel.
     sl[imac]m slime, Dan. sliim; cf. L. limare to file, polish,
     levis smooth, Gr. ???; or cf. L. limus mud.]

        viscous mud.
