     wood.] (Bot.)
     A genus of tropical sapotaceous trees noted for their very
     hard wood; ironwood.

           ferrea}, and two species of {Inga}; in Australia, the
           {Eucalyptus Sideroxylon}, and in many countries,
           species of {Sideroxylon} and {Diospyros}, and many
           other trees.
