  Sheatfish \Sheat"fish`\, n. [Cf. dial. G. scheid, schaid,
     schaiden.] (Zool.)
     A European siluroid fish ({Silurus glanis}) allied to the
     cat-fishes. It is the largest fresh-water fish of Europe,
     sometimes becoming six feet or more in length. See
     {Siluroid}.
