     slave: cf. F. servile. See {Serve}.]
     1. Of or pertaining to a servant or slave; befitting a
        servant or a slave; proceeding from dependence; hence,
        meanly submissive; slavish; mean; cringing; fawning; as,
        servile flattery; servile fear; servile obedience.
