  Sclerotic \Scle*rot"ic\, a. [Gr. sklhro`s hard: cf. F.
     scl['e]rotique.]
     1. Hard; firm; indurated; -- applied especially in anatomy to
        the firm outer coat of the eyeball, which is often
        cartilaginous and sometimes bony.
