  Salicin \Sal"i*cin\, n. [L. salix, -icis, a willow: cf. F.
     salicine. See {Sallow} the tree.] (Chem.)
     A glucoside found in the bark and leaves of several species
     of willow ({Salix}) and poplar, and extracted as a bitter
     white crystalline substance.
