  Saccharic \Sac*char"ic\, a. (Chem.)
     Of, pertaining to, or obtained from, saccharine substances;
     specifically, designating an acid obtained, as a white
     amorphous gummy mass, by the oxidation of mannite, glucose,
     sucrose, etc.
