     pr. & vb. n. {Rending}.] [AS. rendan, hrendan; cf. OFries.
     renda, randa, Fries. renne to cut, rend, Icel. hrinda to
     push, thrust, AS. hrindan; or cf. Icel. r[ae]na to rob,
     plunder, Ir. rannaim to divide, share, part, W. rhanu, Armor.
