From Bouvier's Law Dictionary, Revised 6th Ed (1856) [bouvier]:

  QUOT, Scotch law. The twentieth part of the movables, computed without 
  computation of debts, was so called. 
       2. Formerly the bishop was entitled, in all confirmations, to the quot
