  Pterichthys \Pte*rich"thys\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? wing + ? fish.]
     (Paleon.)
     A genus of Devonian fossil fishes with winglike appendages.
     The head and most of the body were covered with large bony
     plates. See {Placodermi}.
