     vb. n. {Prevailing}.] [F. pr['e]valoir, OF. prevaleir, L.
     praevalere; prae before + valere to be strong, able, or
     worth. See {Valiant}.]

        the advantage; to have the upper hand, or the mastery; to


        succeed; -- sometimes with over or against.
