  Posy \Po"sy\, n.; pl. {Posies}. [Contr. fr. poesy.]
     1. A brief poetical sentiment; hence, any brief sentiment,
        motto, or legend; especially, one inscribed on a ring.
        "The posy of a ring." --Shak.
