  Polybasic \Pol`y*ba"sic\, a. [Poly- + basic.] (Chem.)
     Capable of neutralizing, or of combining with, several
     molecules of a monacid base; having several hydrogen atoms
     capable of being replaced by basic radicals; -- said of
     certain acids; as, sulphuric acid is polybasic.
