  Planish \Plan"ish\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Planished}; p. pr. &
     vb. n. {Planishing}.] [OF. planir, F. planer. See {Plane},
     v., and {-ish}.]
     To make smooth or plane, as a metallic surface; to condense,
     toughen, and polish by light blows with a hammer.
