  Pharyngognathi \Phar`yn*gog"na*thi\, n. pl. [NL. See {Pharynx},
     and {Gnathic}.] (Zool.)
     A division of fishes in which the lower pharyngeal bones are
     united. It includes the scaroid, labroid, and embioticoid
     fishes.
